The Friendly Universe

They say Albert Einstein said this (abridged):

I think the most important question facing humanity is, ‘Is the universe a friendly place?’

For if we decide that the universe is an unfriendly place, then we will use our technology, our scientific discoveries and our natural resources to achieve safety and power by creating bigger walls to keep out the unfriendliness and bigger weapons to destroy all that which is unfriendly

But if we decide that the universe is a friendly place, then we will use our technology, our scientific discoveries and our natural resources to create tools and models for understanding that universe. Because power and safety will come through understanding its workings and its motives.

The Universe is Friendly

Sometimes the world looks “unfriendly.” It looks like it’s getting more “unfriendly” as we go through time. Einstein’s predictions seem to hold true as we use technology and scientific discoveries for military and security concerns to keep out the unfriendliness.

However, this is not a picture of the whole universe. It’s just a speck of time in this little world we live in. We have the power to change things. Individually each of us has the power to manifest our desires and create the kind of life we want. Collectively the day has yet to come when we all talk less of global problems and more about life’s abundance.

The universe is a friendly place. It provides all we need, and more. It is up to us to learn how to create abundance by allowing the universe to provide us with its riches. For, in a manner of speaking, that is what the universe “wants” to do. It “wants” us to succeed.
