It’s like a Disneyland ride. You’re moving through a strange, dark tunnel. You hear Twilight Zone music – doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo. Words come floating at you like ghosts in the cosmos:
“Manifest your desires.”
“Attract Abundance”
doo doo doo doo.
“Live your dreams”
“Power of the mind”
“The secret to attracting wealth”
doo doo doo doo.
“Get ready!”
You’re about to enter a world
where there is only one law.
“The Law of Attraction!”.
Suddenly the ride ends. You’re outside the tunnel in the brightness of the sun. There’s no music. No eerie word phrases floating around you. You’re in a field on a farm . There are truck loads of fruits and vegetables. In the middle of the field a farmer is pulling up carrots by hand.
“Excuse me!” you shout, “Where’s the law of attraction course?”

The farmer picks up his hoe, and rests his hands on the handle. “You’re lookin’ at,” he says. “Not exactly what you were expecting, huh? How’d you like that tunnel with the floating words? You’ve gotta admit, that was a nice touch. How’d you like to help me with these carrots? We’ll talk about the law of attraction course while we work, okay?.”
You begin pulling up carrots. Then you ask, “Are you the teacher for the law of attraction course? Or coach or guru, whatever they call you.”
The farmer laughs. ” No, I’m no guru. I’m a farmer. See all those fruits and vegetables in those crates?”
“Yeah, that’s pretty impressive. I’ll bet you could manifest a truckload of watermelons just like that, couldn’t you?”
“No!” the farmer says sharply. “I grew those fruits and vegetables. Months and months of hard work. We picked those fruits and vegetables with our hands, just like you’re doing now.”
The farmer pauses for a few moments. Then he says, “You want to talk about manifesting? That’s manifesting! – those trees and these plants. You plant seeds, they grow. All by natural law. Of course there’s work to do.’
‘Come with me; I want to show you something.’”
The farmer takes you back to the tunnel. There is no music now. He turns the lights on. You can see the cardboard signs with flourescent paint hanging in the tunnel; “Law of Attraction,” “The secret to attracting wealth,” etc.
“See that cow pie you’re standing next to?” the farmer asks. You look down, and sure enough, there’s some cow dung right next to your foot.
“Did you manifest that from thin air?” the farmer asks. Before you can say, “no,” the farmer says, “That’s your first lesson in understanding the law of attraction. It’s no dark magic. And it isn’t the Twilight Zone. It’s as real as that sh** you nearly stepped in.’
‘Get that in your head right now. Any good law of attraction course can help you so long as you keep your feet on the ground. Forget about being a psychic, or talking with ghosts or genies.. Everythng happens right where we’re standing – and it’s down-to-earth science, not hocus pocus.”
That’s when you realize you’re in the right place. All the videos and movies you’d seen made it look like there is some deep dark mysterious secret, like in that tunnel. But actually the “secret” has always been right in front of you, part of natural law – the same law that makes carrots grow.
